What this market asks

Who will win Wisconsin's 2026 governor's race? The main options are Democrat David Crowley and Republican Tom Tiffany. Each price is the market's implied chance that candidate wins.

The bottom line

Polymarket gives Democrat David Crowley 80.5% and Republican Tom Tiffany 19.5% for Wisconsin's open governor's seat, on about $0.7 million traded. Odds as of 4:00 PM PT, October 15, 2026.

What moved it

This market's Democratic line follows whoever the Democratic nominee is, so its biggest moves track the Democratic primary.

Spring: Democrats favored. The Democratic line rose from about 62% in late 2025 to the low 80s by spring. We didn't find a single event behind it.

July: Democrats slide during the primary. The Democratic line fell from about 78% on July 10 to about 56% by July 20. On July 29 Marquette released a poll of Democratic primary voters showing democratic socialist Francesca Hong at 38%, Mandela Barnes 16% and Crowley 7%. Hong had 26% in Marquette's previous poll, taken July 8–16 (Marquette Law School Poll, July 29). We didn't find a dated news event for the July 13 and July 18–20 drops themselves.

August 2–11: Republicans briefly lead. The Democratic line dropped below 50% on August 2–3 and bottomed near 39% on August 10, the eve of the primary. That was the market's lead change. We couldn't find a specific news trigger for the early-August slide.

August 11–12: Crowley wins. Crowley won the Democratic primary with 39.8% to Hong's 39.3%, and Tiffany won the Republican primary (Wisconsin Elections Commission, certified Aug. 25). The Democratic line jumped from about 43% to 78% on August 12, Republicans' brief lead was gone, and the line has stayed around 76% to 87% since.

How it settles

Polymarket resolves this market once the Associated Press, Fox News and NBC have all called the race for the same candidate. If they don't all agree, it waits for the official state certification. Polymarket's own market page has the full rules.

Who's calling it

See 1 forecaster call on X for this race, with links to each post →

  • Primary result: Crowley's margin over Hong was under a point (WEC).
  • We didn't verify a dated general-election forecast for this race, so we aren't citing one.

The contrarian take

We didn't find a credible, dated public forecast that rates Tiffany the favorite. The swing in August suggests traders saw Crowley as a much stronger general-election candidate than Hong, but that's our reading of the price, not a cited forecast.

What to watch

  • Marquette's general-election polling of Crowley versus Tiffany.
  • Election Day, November 3.
